Page history last edited by Rachel Ashbrook 10 years, 3 months ago

Poetry comes from the creative place inside of an author; sometimes in order to understand their work the audience needs to understand who that author is. You will be choosing an poet from the list below (or feel free to get an additional author approved) in order to understand his or her life and comment on how it is reflected in their work.

Analyzing poetry in terms of its author's life is called

BIOGRAPHICAL CRITICISM:

It is a form of literary criticism which analyzes a writer's biography to show the relationship between the author's life and their works of literature. Biographical criticism is often associated with Historical-Biographical criticism, a method that sees a literary work chiefly, if not exclusively, as a reflection of its author's life and times.
